The trapout that started on March 29 can officially be called a success! I received a call yesterday from the homeowner – letting me know that the queen has emerged, and was sitting on the screened-over entrance with maybe 100-200 bees. That was exactly what I was hoping to hear, since the standard procedure for a queen who is not being properly tended to is to abscond with the remaining 1-2 measuring cups’ worth of volume of remaining bees.
I captured the queen and about 2 dozen of her attendants – and will be re-introducing her to her original colony at the new bee-yard this weekend.
